History

This school was developed as Yamanashi National College of Technology (Kokuritsu Yamanashi Koutou Kougyou Gakkou) in 1924.

1924 Development of Yamanashi National College of Technology (Kokuritsu Yamanashi Koutou Kougyou Gakkou) consisting of Mechanical Science, Electric Science and Civil Engineering (total quota: 90)
1944 The school changed its name to "Kokuritsu Yamanashi Senmon Gakkou".
1945 A part of mobilized students were killed by the atomic bomb in Hiroshima (a photograph of Monument to the Atomic-Bomb Victims in the Peace Park ("Heiwa Kouen') .
1949 As the Faculty of Engineering in National University of Yamanashi, 4 departments consisting of Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering and Applied Chemistry were developed.
1950 An institution for fermentation chemistry was developed.
1957 Department of Fermentation Technology was developed.
1960 Department of Precision Engineering was developed.
1961 Department of Electronic Engineering was developed.
1962 Research institution of inorganic synthesis was developed.
1965 Master Programs in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Applied Chemistry, Fermentation Technology, Precision Engineering, and Electronic Engineering, Graduate School of Engineering was developed.
1965 Department of Basic Engineering was developed.
1966 Each department increased courses (Introduction of mass education)
1970 Department of Computer Science was developed.
1972 A special transfer system was applied in Department of Mechanical Engineering
1973 A special transfer system was applied in Electrical Engineering
1974 Department of Environmental Conservation Engineering was developed.
1974 Master Program in Department of Computer Science, Graduate School of Engineering was developed.
1978 Master Program in Department of Environmental Conservation Engineering, Graduate School of Engineering was developed.
1989 Faculty of Engineering was reorganized into 4 departments (Mechanical Systems Engineering, Electronic and Information Engineering, Civil Environmental Engineering, Chemical and Biological Engineering).
1992 PhD Programs in Material Engineering and Social Information System, Graduate School of Engineering were developed.
1992 Master Programs of Graduate School of Engineering were reorganized into Mechanical Systems Engineering, Electronic and Information Engineering, Civil Environmental Engineering and Chemical and Biological Engineering.
1997 T1 building was developed (redevelopment project in Faculty of Engineering was started).
1998

Department of Ecosocial System Engineering was developed. 

Faculty of Engineering was reorganized into 6 departments (Mechanical Systems Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Computer Science and Media Engineering, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Chemical and Biological Technology and Ecosocial System Engineering).
2002

Graduate programs of Ecosocial System Engineering, Materials and Environment Technology, and Sustainable Society Studies were developed. 
PhD Programs of Graduate School of Engineering were reorganized into Mechanical Systems Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Computer Science and Media Engineering, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Chemical and Biological Technology, Ecosocial System Engineering, Materials and Environment Technology, and Sustainable Society Studies).
Former University of Yamanashi and former Yamanashi Medical University were integrated to new University of Yamanashi.

2003 Department of Materials and Environment Technology was reorganized into Applied Chemistry and Biotechnology.
2004

National university corporation University of Yamanashi was established.
University of Yamanashi Department of Education, Interdisciplinary Graduate School of Medicine and Engineering was developed.
Graduate programs in Ecosocial System Engineering and Sustainable Society Study were reorganized into Sustainable Society Studies.

2005 Center for Creative Technology attached to Faculty of Engineering was developed.
2007 International Research Center for River Basin Environment attached to Faculty of Engineering was developed.
2008 Graduate program in Chemical and Biological Technology was reorganized into Applied Chemistry and Biotechnology.
2009 Graduate program of Materials and Environment Technology was reorganized into Human Oriented Engineering.
