Wine Science Education Program

This is a six-year program designed to master the Wine Science.

Through the application of our unique and proud research development area (energy and wine), we have newly created "the institute of clean energy research" and "Wine Science Education Program" since 2007. This course trains engineers and researchers of Wine Science, who have a high level of knowledge and technique in the enology and viticulture. In the six-year program, students will receive a more practical education in internships at wineries in Yamanashi.

 

Objective

Yamanashi prefecture has been involved in wine production since the dawn of Japanese winery, and as the birthplace of Japanese wine, it has played a leading role in the Japanese wine industry. University of Yamanashi is located in Yamanashi prefecture and is the center of Japan's education for Wine Science and also possesses the Institute of Enology and Viticulture. We will establish "Wine Science Education Program" and educate engineers and researchers possessing highly advanced expertise and techniques with passion for wine production. Enology and viticulture are science for wine production based on advanced knowledge in plant physiology, molecular biology, microbiology, organic chemistry, sensory assessment, and pharmaceutics, medical science.
